As Mayor, Will secured a $1.25 million federal COPS grant with Senator Ed Markey to hire and rehire 10 Fall River Police officers — putting more cops on the beat in every neighborhood.

In the days after the Sandy Hook tragedy, he ordered a Fall River Police officer stationed at the entrance of every public school in the city — one of the first mayors in Massachusetts to act.

As Mayor again, Will will fight to fully staff the Fall River Police and Fire Departments, invest in modern equipment for our first responders, and expand community-based policing that builds trust between officers and the neighborhoods they serve.

Fall River is more than downtown. From the Flint to the Highlands to the South End to Maplewood, every neighborhood deserves clean streets, working streetlights, filled potholes, and safe playgrounds.

A Flanagan administration will hold DPW accountable to real response-time standards, aggressively pursue owners of blighted properties, and reinvest in the parks, playgrounds, and public spaces that make a neighborhood feel like home.

Our seniors built this city. They deserve senior centers, transportation, and a City Hall that picks up the phone when they call — not a runaround.

As Mayor, Will championed the SouthCoast Life-Science & Technology Park and the UMass Dartmouth Biomanufacturing Center to bring 21st-century jobs home to Fall River.

With commuter rail service now connecting Fall River to Boston, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to attract new residents, new businesses, and new investment along the corridor.

Will will cut through the red tape that discourages small businesses from opening their doors here, invest in workforce development so Fall River workers can compete for the best jobs, and market our city aggressively to employers looking for a place to grow.

As Mayor, Will made it a point to walk every neighborhood — not just during campaign season. He met residents on their front porches, at their small businesses, and in their houses of worship.

He will bring back monthly neighborhood office hours in every corner of the city, so no resident has to travel downtown to have their concerns heard.

When something goes wrong in a Fall River neighborhood — a fire, a storm, a tragedy — you will see the Mayor there. That's not a promise. That's how Will Flanagan already governed.

In 2009, at 29 years old, Will was elected the 42nd Mayor of Fall River — the youngest in city history — after a career as an Assistant District Attorney for Bristol County.

In 2013, Fall River voters re-elected him with 69% of the vote, and he won every one of the city's 29 precincts — a mandate rarely seen in any Massachusetts city.

He balanced budgets, protected essential services, and delivered on public safety and economic development. He didn't run on promises — he ran on a record.

Fall River's harbor is one of the most under-invested economic assets in Southeastern Massachusetts. Battleship Cove, our working piers, and our waterfront restaurants can be an engine of jobs and tourism.

A Flanagan administration will partner with the state and federal government to modernize harbor infrastructure, expand the commercial fishing and seafood-processing industry, and pursue cruise-ship and ferry opportunities that bring visitors — and their spending — to the city.

The waterfront should work for Fall River residents — not just be a view from the highway.
